Welcome to EDRC in New York City
The Eating Disorder Resource Center in New York City was the first center of its kind to have a specialized treatment program for women and men who were suffering from bulimia. We now treat eating disorders of all kinds, offering individual, group, family and couples treatment for those challenged by bulimia, binge eating disorder, anorexia and other kinds of body dysmorphia.
The center is based in the west 50’s in Manhattan, but we have offices throughout the city. We also have a large network of referral sources — such as physicians, psychiatrists, nutritionists and gynecologists — so that all concerns can best be addressed.
With over 25 years of experience, we are keenly aware of the latest research and clinical understandings of anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorders. We are dedicated to knowing what can best help when you or someone you know is in trouble with food.

Family Ties: What Hurts, Helps and Heals
The Renfrew Center Foundation 20th Annual Conference Presents:
Feminist Perspectives and Beyond ~ Honoring the Past, Embracing the Future
Currently there is much controversy regarding the role of parental involvement when a teenager has an eating-disorder. The question is not whether parents should be involved, but how. Approaches veer from direct intervention with food issues (active re-feeding) to parental disengagement from food struggles. Mothers and fathers and other family members can have crucial roles in the process of recovery. Just how parents and caretakers can help—or hurt—the recovery process will be discussed. Audience participation will be encouraged.
Speakers: Dr. Judith Brisman, Dr. Judy Rabinor and Dr. Margo Maine
Location: Philadelphia Airport Marriott, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Supervisory Study Group for Professionals:
The Interpersonal Treatment of Eating Disorders
Dr. Brisman is now forming a supervisory group on the interpersonal treatment of eating disorders. The supervisory group is open to all professionals who are interested in the psychodynamic treatment of eating disorders. In particular, we will discuss the need for direct intervention with problematic eating behaviors while attending to the ongoing question of what the intervention actually means to the patient. Cases will be presented and readings will supplement discussion.
Location: The group will be held for an hour each week at 330 W. 58th Street (time to be determined). A bi-monthly group is also being considered.
Information: Please contact Dr. Judith Brisman at drjbrisman@edrcnyc.org or at 212-582-2217 if you are interested in more information. We look forward to hearing from you.
